War Mongrels is a real-time tactics game developed by Destructive Creations – a Polish studio known for creating Ancestors Legacy. The game encourages players to take a stealthy approach during gameplay, focusing on sneaking behind enemies' backs, and quiet elimination of threats. It is worth mentioning that the WM game touches many difficult issues concerning WWII, such as the holocaust, or mass murders. If it comes to the technical aspects of the game, it features high-quality visuals and animation, created with motion capture technology.

War Mongrels Story Background

As mentioned before, the action of the game takes place during the Second World War. The story begins with the two Wehrmacht soldiers, Ewald and Manfred. During the assault of the Russian artillery, they decide to take advantage of the situation and desert the army. This event will be the beginning of their long and dangerous journey. During the adventure, players will meet many unique characters. Some of them will join former Wehrmacht troops, to increase their chances of surviving in these terrible times. Our group members come from different armies, social groups, and nationalities which often results in different views on some matters and quarrels.

Gameplay and the mechanics of the game

The gameplay is focused on tactical, stealthy elimination of enemies and staying undetected for most of the time. The action in War Mongrels is presented in the isometric view, and the game itself reminds titles like the iconic Commando series or Desperados. As the story progress, players will meet several unique characters that will join the team. Every character features different skills and abilities and plays a different role. For example, some of them can disguise themselves to get past the enemy's lines, while others can lure hostile troops to a convenient location, and eliminate them without alarming others. The game gives us total freedom of action during missions and how the objective will be completed depends entirely on the player's playstyle. It is worth adding that besides the single player experience, the game features online co-op gameplay, where players can work together to complete missions.
